In response to the upcoming deployment of the new C-band 5G cellular network in the United States, several airlines have announced flight cancellations to the U.S.
To limit potential impact, Marken is actively moving shipments to airlines that will continue to operate with approved 5G-Aircraft to and from the U.S. The new C-band 5G technology will not affect the UPS fleet of aircraft.
The new 5G signals can negatively affect the altitude measurement of specific aircraft in the U.S., and the FAA is working with wireless network carriers to delay its deployment while a safe solution is developed. Airlines utilizing the Boeing 777 are experiencing impacts to their flight schedules, including Air India, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, and Emirates.
Marken has been proactively monitoring the changes in global cellular service and is ready to handle your shipments with two 5G-compatible tracking devices – Marken Sentry 600 and Emerson Real-Time.
As cellular networks plan to “sunset” or shut down 3G cellular service, Marken has readied our network with 4G/LTE-M/NB-IoT/5G devices, including 2G fallback coverage for tracking and visibility of your valuable shipments. These devices do not affect aircraft altimeters, and we are working closely with our suppliers to ensure airline approval coverage, including UPS.
Our customer service teams are always accessible to identify the best possible routing through all commercial and UPS options. Please rest assured that Marken will proactively contact all affected clients directly to provide alternative arrangements if needed.
At Marken, we remain committed to always finding a way to connect patients with medicines in all corners of the world.
