Marken is closely monitoring Typhoon Shanshan, which is expected to approach northwest Japan, making landfall in the coming days.

As the major storm is forecasted to bring extreme adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rainfall and severe winds, throughout western Japan and the surrounding regions, we anticipate there may be operational delays in the supply chain and are prepared with contingency plans in place.

Marken is closely monitoring the ongoing weather conditions, and we will work proactively with clients to provide alternative arrangements to ensure patients are unaffected and service remains uninterrupted. Our Customer Service team will communicate any necessary updates to clients as this situation progresses.

Due to recent events impacting the Middle East, some airlines are cancelling, delaying and/or halting operations at this time. Marken remains fully operational in the surrounding cities and throughout the region, with daily collections and deliveries. Our team is proactively monitoring all lanes and shipments, leveraging our UPS Air network, and are diverting exports to other airports, to avoid impacts wherever possible. 

While we continue to assess the situation, we understand and anticipate operational delays, causing disruption within the supply chain. We are working with our business partners and clients to provide alternative arrangements and our Customer Service team is communicating necessary updates directly to our clients, on a case-by-case basis. 

OPERATIONAL UPDATES:

• ISRAEL - Currently, no impact or change in operations or timelines at this time. Some airlines have suspended flights. EL AL Israel Airlines remains operational in and out of Israel with direct flights into EU and US destinations. 
• LEBANON – Currently, no impact or change in operations at this time. Some airlines have suspended flights. However, Middle East Airlines and Turkish Airlines remains operational in and out of Lebanon with direct flights into EU destinations. 

Marken continues to source alternate routes, as needed, including leveraging UPS Air, to reduce impacts to shipments in/out of region. Marken’s regional partners are ready for road solutions and we have regional hubs in place, within our network, to redispatch to destinations, where needed.

At this time, Marken services and systems are not interrupted, and we remain fully operational with daily collections. 

Please note, that Marken has implemented contingency plans, leveraging our UPS Air network, and are diverting exports to other airports, to avoid impacts wherever possible. Our team is proactively working with our business partners and clients to provide alternative arrangements and our Customer Service team is communicating necessary updates directly to our clients, on a case-by-case basis, and supporting them with printing all required shipment documentation and labels.

OPERATIONAL UPDATES:

TRANSPORT LOGISTICS

• AIRLINES - Impacted airlines are resuming normal operations. As part of Marken’s contingency plans, in cases where airports are inaccessible, we are leveraging UPS Air.
• ROAD – Marken continues to source alternate routes, as needed, to reduce impacts to shipments in/out of regions. Marken’s regional partners are ready for road solutions and we have regional hubs in place, within our network, consolidating shipments to redispatch to destinations, where needed.

REGULATORY & COMPLIANCE

• CUSTOMS & HANDLING AGENT - Due to some global airline closures, there are delays expected in the handling processes of import/export and customs clearance operations. Marken’s certified customs specialists and regulatory experts are readily available to discuss shipping lane verification requirements, customs regulations, local sanctions and guidelines as needed.

Marken remains committed to delivering lifesaving drugs with quality excellence to our clients and their patients. This year, with the Olympic games occurring in Paris, we understand and anticipate delays in deliveries and collections from sites in France, in areas where the Olympics and Paralympics will be organized. We are proactively monitoring all transportation routes leading up to this grand event and our experts are working on solutions, with contingency plans in place. We will communicate necessary updates directly to our clients, on a case-by-case basis, leading up to the event. 

PARIS OLYMPICS 2024 SCHEDULE 

• Ceremony - July 26
• Olympics - July 24 to August 11
• Paralympics - August 28 to September 8

OPERATIONAL UPDATES:

• AIRLINES - Marken has been informed by DGAC (General Directorate for Civil Aviation) that a temporary prohibited area (ZIT Ceremonie) will be created to ensure the implementation of specialty air security arrangements as part of protection of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games 2024. Flights will be banned in this area from 16h 30 to midnight on July 26, 2024. As part of Marken’s contingency plans, alternative European airports, including Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Brussels will be used on this day. Our team is in daily contact with the regional airlines to anticipate any disruption that may occur during these series of events.
• ROAD - The organizers of the Olympic Games released a transportation plan for every day of the event in Paris. The transportation plan is available here. A security plan has also been released by the authorities, which covers the accessibility & restrictions throughout this event. All drivers operating for Marken have received their accreditation to perform collection and delivery in the different restricted areas (red and blue areas in the interactive map). Competitor sites (grey area in the interactive map) will not be accessible by any transport companies. Marken will proactively work with the sites impacted, to ensure collection and delivery is successfully performed without any delay. 
• OCEAN & TRAIN- No impact is expected at this time.
• SURROUNDING REGIONS - Minimal impacts are expected from the surrounding regions, as a portion of the event will happen outside of Paris.
