Larger, More Modern Facility Enhances Company’s Capabilities

Members of the media, including Pharmabiz, attended the ribbon-cutting official ceremony. The event was hosted by Wes Wheeler, Chief Executive Officer and Mark Hembarsky, SVP Logistics, Americas, Julio Villamayor, Vice President Commercial Operations Latin America & Corporate Strategy and Antonio Beloto, General Manager for Argentina. Members of the pharmaceutical industry, including many representatives from Clinical Research Organizations (CROs), all participated to learn more about the logistics operations center in Tortuguitas, Malvinas Argentina.
Marken continues to lead the country in supply chain solutions as Argentina plays a critical and key international role for clinical trial studies. Argentina is the fourth-largest pharmaceutical market in the world behind the US, China, and Japan. With a relatively low-cost base and high-quality professionals in the biotechnology sector, Argentina is home to over 130 biotechnology companies. Argentina is considered a favorable source for cost-effective clinical trials within Latin America, and was one of the first Latin American countries to implement the recommendations of the WHO Good Manufacturing Practices and Control standards which endorses compliance to an international set of quality standards for pharmaceutical production.
