Global Life Science Supply Chain Leader Donates Funds to Benefit Alzheimer’s and Brain Research Worldwide

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, June 30, 2016 – Steadfast in their support of clinical research, Marken announced a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) during the month of June which is designated to recognize Alzheimer’s and other brain diseases.

“At Marken, our corporate mission involves giving back to the clinical community,” said Wes Wheeler, Marken’s Chief Executive Officer. Since 2010, Marken has been selected as the global trusted supply chain partner for nearly 200 Alzheimer’s trials and tens of thousands of related shipments. Wheeler emphasized that, “as an industry leader, we understand how integral research is to diseases impacting millions across the globe such as Alzheimer’s.”

Specifically, Marken’s donation will be allocated to research categories including molecular pathogenesis, physiology, diagnosis and assessment, disease monitoring, translational research, clinical interventions, epidemiology, and health economics of Alzheimer’s disease.

By connecting with the Alzheimer’s Association, Marken shows their commitment to clinical research. As described on their website, the Alzheimer’s Association is the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research. The organization helps to connect scientific, academic, government, industry thought-leaders and key stakeholders worldwide. The Alzheimer’s Association believes in “the value of collaboration and are a catalyst toward the time when we will have disease-modifying treatments, preventive strategies and gold-standard care for all people affected by Alzheimer’s disease.” *

The donation comes at a time when Marken is rapidly increasing its reach across the globe. “Our team works diligently to find new ways and places to reach patients for our clients,” said Wheeler. He identified that, “to date, Marken has pushed clinical boundaries and assisted with Alzheimer’s trials in over 40 countries worldwide. Marken is always willing to go the extra mile for the patient.”

Coinciding with the announcement, Marken’s entire executive team wore purple to show unwavering support for the cause and research. Marken encourages others to wear purple during the month to honor those facing, fighting or researching a cure for Alzheimer’s.
