The Terminal de Cargas Argentina (TCA) is experiencing significant operational disruptions due to the recent implementation of a new system that is not functioning as expected.

Since the system went live on August 23rd, the issues remain unresolved with no signs of stabilization. These system failures have resulted in major delays in shipment processing, severely impacting import procedures.

Current Status

• Persistent operational challenges despite ongoing communication and coordination
  with TCA
• Regularization process underway, however, no timeline for resolution has been provided 
• Centro Despachantes de Aduana (CDA) formally requested intervention by General Directorate of Customs (DGA), due to mounting cargo backlogs
• CDA proposed joint meeting with all stakeholders to develop contingency plan
• Delays compounded by adverse weather conditions and the continued arrival of new flights, accelerating accumulation of undelivered cargo

Millions have been impacted by the blackout, which has affected critical infrastructure, including airports, hospitals, telecommunications, and public transportation systems. Early reports attribute the disruption to a possible fault within the European electric grid, with investigations still ongoing.

As of the latest updates, gradual power restoration efforts are underway across both countries, with some regions in northern Spain already reconnected to the grid. The situation remains fluid, and national authorities across Spain and Portugal are coordinating emergency responses alongside European energy networks.

Our highest priority remains service reliability. While every effort is being made to maintain uninterrupted service, due to the severity of the situation, shipment delays or displacements may occur. We are also working closely with clients to arrange alternative routing, import and export solutions and priority shipment handling as needed - leveraging the extensive UPS network to sustain service continuity wherever possible. Clients shipping to or from Spain and Portugal are encouraged to contact their local Marken representatives for real-time routing advisories and contingency planning.
