Marken, UPS Healthcare Precision Logistics, is actively monitoring evolving airspace restrictions and transportation disruptions impacting commercial air travel, cargo handling and ground operations across select regions in India and Pakistan.
Current Operational Status & Impacts
Due to precautionary measures implemented by local authorities, 32 airports across northern and western India remain temporarily closed through at least May 15, with hundreds of commercial and cargo flights canceled daily, leading to widespread rerouting and delays for both domestic and international carriers. Key impacted airports include Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Chandigarh, Amritsar and others. Carriers such as IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Akasa, have reported significant schedule reductions and capacity constraints in affected areas.
Up to 400+ flights per day are being canceled or rerouted, affecting roughly 11% of domestic travel, including elevated congestion and delays at Delhi Airport, which is experiencing increased traffic as airlines adjust routes and shift volume through alternative airspace and nearby hubs.
Supply Chain Implications & Our Response
Our highest priority remains maintaining service reliability and protecting the integrity of critical healthcare and complex secure shipments. Marken’s operations across unaffected South Asia regions continue as scheduled, however due to the severity of the situation, we anticipate potential delays for shipments routed through impacted zones. In response, Marken has taken the following actions:
- Activated contingency planning protocols and implemented business continuity measures to enable flexible rerouting options and adjusted pickups
- Engaged closely with airline, ground and logistics partners to monitor schedules and secure capacity through modified flight paths or road networks
- Deployed rapid-response escalation teams to ensure end-to-end visibility and protect time- and temperature-sensitive shipments
- Increased regional communications to deliver real-time updates and proactive support to clients and stakeholders
